Warning to All Ghost Investigator

 I would just like to warn you of a place our team investigated on Halloween. Well should have investigated Halloween.  The investigation was to have started at about 11PM but it did not start till about 12.30AM the next morning, due to the pub landlord double booking us and not ending the second booking at the time it was supposed the end.

We had booked and paid £400 for the whole pub and rooms for the whole night, months in advance. then the landlord tells us he's now got a Halloween party going on, on the same night. He also said in another email, its ok they will be gone by 11PM, then changed it to they were going to move to the barn so that we could start our investigation with out any noise. This did not happen and the landlord had vanished for the night, no one knew where he was. When we complained and said that the people in our group wanted their money back, the barmaid tolled the DJ that he would have to finish at about 12. He was booked till 1AM, and because He did not like that, he told everyone in the pub that he had to stop because of the ghost BUSTERS.

This now meant we had paid £400 for three and a half hours and although we had booked all the rooms for the night (Which meant we had them till 10AM) we was asked to leave because the barmaid was tired. It was the most disappointing ghost investigation we have ever done. So please be warned that if you book to investigate the Chequers inn  Smarden Nr Ashford Kent you could get the same treatment. If you do book don’t pay all the money upfront like we did.

Bretons Manor Ghosts

This is a list of some of the known alleged sightings and experiences.

On at least 2 occasions Roman soldiers have been seen walking through walls in the basement, by people who were working in there.

On a number of occasions a lady in white has been seen on the lower half of the stairs.

Another lady has been seen several time mid way up the stairs called Martha  (We believe this to be Martha Ayloff).

In the room next to room7, a woman in a lavender dress was seen standing by the window (We think this is Anne Ayloff who died in 1683).

Someone who was working in the Manor, heard a party going on in room 6 as he was walking up the stairs, but when he opened the door the room fell silent.

Also we have a number of evps from the Manor, Some of which are on our EVP page.

We have also had a report of the door to the bar slamming shut.

On one of our Investigations of the Manor, 3 people see a man with long hair and a smiling face in the basement, (only one of these people were from our team, the other 2 were members of the news paper reporter's team). Later that night another of our team member saw an apparition of a man in another part of the basement (this maybe the same man).

One of our team members, In the early 1970s Had a job that did not allow him to work outside when it was raining, so to give him something to do he had to sweep the floors  of the almost an empty shell of a Manor (It had only one room being used, Room3 used as an office). One day whilst sweeping in one of the up stairs rooms (which he had swept many times before) he noticed a very strong smell of lavender. This could not be explained.

On another occasion when he was sweeping the Manor, he noticed an 8 foot long length of 2 inch by 1 inch wood resting on an iron girder, with the smallest end up in the air. Suddenly the wood started lifting and rocking up and down. It did this 3 times and he was gone.

Thank you for Saturday Night at Bretons Manor, it was our first time at anything like that and was a little apprehensive but were soon at ease as everyone was so friendly and relaxed. We went on to enjoy the night very much. 
I would like to pass on two things that should of been said on the reporting back section . The first room we sat in with Maurice  ( I think it was room 7or 8 ) I had a very strong feeling of a tall man with a funny left eye standing in the right hand corner facing the door. The other thing, when in the cellar we both see small blue smoky areas, rather like a real dark sky with a touch of blue peeping through, my son also see a face in one and a cross in another.
 
Again thank you for a great Night it all went so fast.

This is an Email we received after Haunted Bretons Manor (2) 03/02/07

Dear Bill and the rest of the team,

I just wanted to say thank you for Saturday night. You all made me feel welcome and it didn't matter that I had come alone, after only a short while I was part of a group and enjoyed it thoroughly.

At the moment I am just putting my digital video footage onto DVD for you which I will post. I didn't think alot had happened on Saturday night until watching and listening to the tape on the Sunday afternoon.

There are a couple of EVP and orbs on there which I am sure you would like to listen to.

I did feel a couple of things while in the Manor, in the basement I felt compelled to go in the corner to the right of the room unlike the rest of the group. I felt there was a man in his 60's there called Harold who was just watching and having a laugh at what we were doing. I felt he was a northerner and probably worked with Steam or boilers etc in life. Didn't get anything else from him.

On the first floor I was completely gobsmacked with the Ouija board. Only Ray myself and another gentleman had their finger tips on the glass but as soon as we started to ask questions the glass slid quickly across the board spelling out different messages. The oddest thing for me was that you could feel the different energies moving the glass they were different for each person that received a message. In the second room we went into we froze to death, for some reason it went from warm to ice cold in there. We all sat quielty asking for a sign but nothing happened in there, there were as I said on my tape an odd sound after mike asked for a sign which I didn't hear while we were in the room and there was an orb around Ray and another couple.

On the third floor while we sat in the room it was very peaceful but there is the sound of a clock chiming after Ray asks if we could have a sign. I don't know the house so there may well be a clock somewhere that chimes but I just don't remember if that evening.

Thank you ever so much for opening the gate for me, I was absolutley exhausted and made it home just intime as I kept wanting to nod off during my drive and if I had waited any longer I may have had to sleep in the car until I felt fit enough.

I wil post the DVD to the address below as soon as I have burnt it.

This is a letter we received after Haunted Bretons Manor (2) 03/02/07

To the Essex and Kent paranormal Research Society

Dear Bill and all the team

I would like to tell people what happened to me on one of your ghost nights.

I came to Bretons Manor in February 07 with my two friends Derrick and Jasper. When we took part in the ghost night none of us really knew what to expect!

When we arrived we had a cup of coffee and watched some videos about ghost activity, there was also a medium who spoke to Derrick, and he told him some things about him and his family which were all true. We were all impressed!

Next, we went into a room and although no presence was felt, it was still spooky.

Then I was asked if I wanted to go into a room alone for a few minuets, which I did. This is when I felt spider webs on my face. However I did not say anything in case it was just me!

Later on, we did a séance in room 8 linking hands. After a while my friend said he could feel pressure on his hand, and then around 20 seconds later I felt a tingling rushing up my arm and going around to my head. I felt my energy being sucked out of me, and it was at this moment that I asked our group leader to stop, as I really didn't feel well. I had no energy left whatsoever. When I stood up I collapsed, my friends had to hold me up. I had never felt like that before and was very, very scared. I thought I might have a ghost in me. After that, I tried to keep out of the way, especially when we went to the basement.

Although I was very scared at some parts of the night, we were all glad that we went; it was an experience I will never forget!

TO BILL AND THE TEAM,

WE JUST WANT TO SAY A MASSIVE THANK YOU FOR THE MOST FAB NIGHT AT BRETTON MANOR ON SATURDAY. WE COULDN'T BELIEVE THE ACTIVITY THAT WENT ON IN OUR GROUP INCLUDING EVPS, A VERY ACTIVE OUJA BOARD AND A MEMBER OF OUR GROUP BEING LED ROUND THE TOP FLOOR BY A SPIRIT.

A COUPLE OF OUR GROUP WERE A BIT APPREHENSIVE AND NERVOUS, BUT BY 5AM THEY WERE WISHING MORE THINGS TO HAPPEN AND ARE NOW TOTAL BELIEVERS. THE ONLY PROBLEM NOW IS WE ARE ALL A LITTLE BIT DOWN THAT IT IS ALL OVER. I CAN ONLY ASK THAT ,IF POSSIBLE, WHEN YOU ARRANGE FUTURE DATES FOR ANY VENUE, YOU WILL LET ME KNOW. I WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE IT.

ONCE AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR GIVING US A NIGHT THAT WE WILL NEVER FORGET.

We would like to say that on the 07/09/07 we had another paranormal group called Kent Paranormal Hunters come in to conduct a private investigation of Bretons Manor. They behaved impeccably and professionally. We were told they had a fantastic night, everyone seemed to enjoy them-selves. we would welcome them back anytime.

It is a shame that other investigation teams can't act in a professional manor, the team we had on the 27/10/07,                Haunted Places Paranormal Investigations, in a séance, they were even asking Spirit "what colour eyes do you have" and "what's your favourite colour" In my opinion these are not very professional questions.
